Hi boys and girls! My name is Soma and I am originally from Nigeria but I’ve lived in Hong Kong since 2014.
I first came to Hong Kong to study, then after completing my master’s degree in engineering at HKUST, a friend told me about World Family Club and since I had a passion for education and was undecided about pursuing a career in engineering, I decided to give it a shot. I am so glad I did!
One of my favourite memories was performing in the World Family Club Christmas shows in 2015, I’d only been involved in Telephone English, which meant not being able to see kids or parents when singing World Family songs or telling stories, so being able to see the twinkle in the eyes of kids and joy in the faces of parents as their kids expressed so much love of learning during the shows, made me all the more enthusiastic about pursuing a career in education and my desire to replicate this moment for all my learners.
What I find most enjoyable working at Telephone English or in activities is seeing the twinkle in the eyes of members (parents and kids) and hearing the enthusiasm in their voices as they sing, play, chat or dance along with me, make me feel that I’m doing something worthwhile.
Learning is and should be fun! Fun learning results in curious learners who keep coming back for more, and that’s something the World Family team always strives to deliver at every moment, whether physically or virtually. I’m proud to be a part of a team that makes learning effective, engaging and memorable by making it fun!
大家好！我是美語姐姐Soma！我來自尼日利亞，但從2014年起我已經一直居住在香港。
一開始我來香港的主要目的是讀書，在香港科技大學完成工程學碩士學位後，朋友告訴我有關寰宇家庭俱樂部的工作，由於我對教育充滿熱情，而且當時仍在猶豫應否從事工程方面的職業，因此我決定試試看。我十分慶幸自己當日作了這個決定！
其中一個我最難忘的回憶是在2015年參與了寰宇家庭俱樂部的聖誕表演。過往我只是負責電話美語的工作，透過電話與孩子唱歌或對話時都看不見孩子或父母的反應，因此在聖誕表演中能夠看到孩子們閃閃發亮的眼睛、還有父母臉上因看到孩子對學習的熱愛而流露出的喜悅，這些都讓我更加熱衷於從事教育工作，並渴望為更多的小朋友帶來這些難忘歡樂的時刻。
無論是電話美語或其他活動，最令我享受的是看到孩子和父母閃爍的眼睛，以及與他們一起唱歌、玩耍、聊天或跳舞時聽到他們熱情的聲音，都讓我感到我的工作是很有意義。
學習本來就是很有趣！有趣的學習可以吸引好奇的學習者追求更多，這亦是寰宇家庭團隊一直努力在每一刻(無論是身體上還是精神上)傳遞的訊息。我很榮幸能夠加入這個大家庭，用有趣的方法令學習變得更有效果、吸引和難忘！
